If ONLY a label such as Blue Note had signed Kamasi, great band and album.
Yet again terrible SQ deserves too much better

Probably the best jazz album I’ve heard in years, this dramatic diptych conjures up all sorts of imagery in its two-and-a-half-hour runtime, but for me the most enduring image is that of an Afrofuturist take on Michael Powell’s A Matter of Life and Death. The ascent from Earth to Heaven is slow and uncertain but there’s not a single minute I’d take out of it.

For me the hidden record was great fun, its at least a thing i will use.
Have harder time whit boxsets full of T-shirts or other things i can never use to keep my box complete.

I found this tip for getting out the bonus LP it comes via Amazon from a member named Shane Schlick…

There is a "pre-ripped" opening at the TOP of the center panel that you can gently cut with a knife to access the bonus vinyl without tearing up the packaging. DO NOT TEAR THE BOTTOM of center panel! You will just get glue all over your vinyl as you pull it out, and will most likely damage the inner and outer sleeves too, along with the beautiful packaging. This is album is absolutely incredible, and considering his music is an outward expression of his dreams really makes me love his music even more.

Anyway, I'm waiting for my copy in the mail, I hope this helps others without damaging the great LP package. There is also a picture on Turntable Lab that shows the actual opening for the hidden LP.

i'd appreciate the hidden record gimmick if it was a little easier to access it without hacking away with a razor blade, leaving an untidy mess on an otherwise beautifully packaged LP set, fantastic listening though...

When I hear Kamasi Washington playing on his saxophone horn, it often transports me to another realm. Especially when I am listening to it on my good Sony headphones. Once, I completely missed the delivery of a medium-sized pepperoni pizza and a big bottle of cola
from Dominoes as I didn’t hear the doorbell ringing, because I was so entranced by this excellent jazz music!!

The music is good, but I have strong objections over the pressing quality. Pops, clicks and noise abound even after record cleaning machine treatment. And the treble is very rounded off, very little headroom. The digital version of this sounds much better unfortunately.

In the worst idea in packaging ever, there 5th record is sealed within a seam you have to cut open resulting in the record being covered in lots of card/paper residue when removing it as it doesn't even have a sleeve, just an inlay next to it. Awful packaging idea.

Great pressing (remember all new records should be cleaned before playing!) but is anyone else too scared to get to the hidden record? Might just leave it as is

Anyone else has the label of side D also on side C? As in the same labels on both sides.
