Octave One (2) – Technology / Chillin' Out ('94)

As many state, a super release pushing boundarties in '94. All about the flip side with Chillin Out for me. Such a well textured and layereed piece of music - the simplicity of the piano line allows the dense beats/pads and bass to take you to another place...a chilled out space. One of those tunes that when it comes to an end, the silence is full of what you've just heard and demands that you rewind and spin again.

Funny, his Far Away tune, equally brilliant, I reckon should've been titled Chillin Out, as it's a 'far' chilled out affair, and Chilled Out called Far Away, as it certainly takes you far away. Of course the vocal line dictated that.

And similarly, I'd much prefer the flip on Far Away release...those beats, drops and emotive synths on It's Yours are just stunning

Anyway, I'd class Chilled Out, up there with some of the deeper/ambient tunes that A-Sides did around the same time under his Gangster Sound moniker.

Doc Scott does it again with a lesser known but no less brilliant 12" of high quality vibes and production.

Technology is a cruncher of a tune with wicked Amenology skills on display. The flip is my fav with that deep intelligent flavour in full effect. Pressed so well too.

The robotic 'Technology' voice features also in Disco Biscuits ‎– Disco Biscuit, the same as the NHS piano loop.

Chillin' Out ('94) is a wicked roller. Bounces along nicely. Much better than the version on the repress. This is the one to get.

Technology is a powerfull amen workout. Excellent 12" and a must have.
