Show All 11 Reviews- Edited 2 years agoThe printing on this release is terrible. They did a scan of the CD artwork, upscaled it and then print it in a bigger format. It shows the original printing pattern and in general looks like a very cheap quality work. Can't believe this was an official release. It is that bad.
- Edited 4 years agoReally glad to own this on record finally. It's a really strong millennium era pop record that I honestly was waiting to criticise it on how dated it sounds.. In fairness it holds up really well. The production is solid and this pressing does it decent justice. It's never going to be a perfectly silent pressing but it's not bad at all. I'm really happy to snag this one for under 30 of your American Sheccles...
- Edited 4 years agoI'm quite happy with my pressing. No issues with the split color or surface noise. Only beef would be the artwork. Not sure how it compares to other vniyl releases of this, but it looks like they took low-res artwork from the original CD and just blew it up big. It shouldn't have been much work to get the cover properly re-done for a vinyl release.
As for the music, it's a wonderful slice of late 90s vocal pop. - Honestly, this doesn't sound that great to me. I have a copy of the Classic Records pressing. It is worlds better. And not by a small margin. This record is pretty lifeless in comparison. I'm not saying it sounds bad, but the mastering has a lot of compression. The Classic Records issue sound amazing, the compression used on this record just sucks the life out the instruments. If you have Amazon Prime, just stream it from them. It actually sounds better than this record. I take it back, this record sounds pretty bad. I'm listening to Amazon after my second listen through the record. Amazon even with a lossy stream beats this record. It's included with Prime, so don't waste you money if you have a Prime membership.
- This album is available at Books A Million stores or on their website for $30. Try their first. Not sure if they are truthful about 1500 copies cause my local Tallahassee store had like 8 copies on hand.
- You can still order this album on Brookvale’s website, as of 7/25/18, and it will only cost you $29.99. I see greed has already captured the hearts of many sellers who are inexplicably charging ~$100 for an album you can buy yourself, from the same place they bought it, at a 1/3 of the price. Don’t be fooled.
The record sounds great btw. - Really mixed about this pressing. First my copy came damaged, the sleeve and booklet are both creased. It's supposed to be a 1500 pieces limited edition but it's not numbered so a bit disappointing. It's no gatefold too.
The pressing is really silent and dynamic (though the Classic Records reissue is far better). I'm not really found of the half black / half red effect but I haven't noticed any issue about it while spinning the record.
I have a skip on Honestly Ok on my copy even cleaned up and as mine was damaged as i have already said, the vinyl is slightly wrapped but still playing though.
Really nice to have a big booklet but the font is not really the same as on the official one especially on title tracks + the tracklisting on back cover is not the same as on the original release too.
If you can buy it in US then i'd recommend it but shipping it to Europe is quite expensive for this release. - Just received my copy of this pressing! It sounds fantastic! and its such a beautiful color split! Sounds fine and clear on my turntable! there are still copies on books-a-million! Grab a copy before they are gone!!!!
