Notes
A distillate, by it’s very nature, is purified, clearer than that which is left in it’s wake. When we talk of finding the heart of something, what to make of the rest, of everything that is flayed away searching for an imagined greater truth. Then comes Victor Frankenstein in the boneyard, with a Tesla coil and a wooden wagon with a creaky wheel. Looking for freshly turned earth. Chances are they’re only a few feet deep, it’s cheap work, and they get lazy, same as anyone. The spade sinks right in, the ground is soft. It’s been a wet spell. The townspeople will be raging soon, but tonight, they sleep.

- This album has some of the restless energy and crust of Dälek’s early work, particularly in the treatment of samples, and as there aren’t many standout hooks or refrains here, more focus is put on the way the two rappers’ individual styles effortlessly interweave.

Backwoodz just tweeted that a repress is coming later this year. “Double vinyl” so guessing instrumentals and possibly new artwork?
Really wish Backwoodz could keep their LPs in print. Definitely understand why it's hard to do so, vinyl is expensive especially for a small label, but it's still disappointing that it's so hard to find their stuff once it sells out on their webstore. I got lucky enough to find this one at Amoeba a few months ago mixed in with about a dozen copies of Woods' Hiding Places, but I'm having a hell of a time finding anything else from him at a reasonable price.
Heads up the label announced this is out of print but they have copies for tours and shit it seems; if you get to see Armand Hammer/Billy/Elucid live it'll be a good opportunity to pick this up
Edited 6 years agoAlright. I'll step up and say something about this one. It's pretty hot. An inspired example of dark and dense dystopian hip hop. Captivating production and vocal performances. The vinyl is a little noisy in parts. It's cool. It suits the proceedings. One of the best releases of 2018.
