- Edited 3 years agoThe Coldest Season was my turning point rediscovering Dub Techno. After Basic Channel/ Rhythm & Sound/ Burial Mix seamed to disappear from the scene, I lost contact because of missing innovation. The first DeepChord hype didn't satisfy. So it was The Coldest Season that caught my interest again and finally I got back to this not every time innovative but deep, interesting and moody sound. It's not the rhythm but the sound that keeps everything together on this one.
- this album is really nice and about space in music. is it not techno to dance to, more for listening with good headphones. there is a big influence of the basic channel stuff, but that is the case with most records in the field of dub techno. not very innovative, but well done! you can relax and get a headtrip with this one. i wish there were more dub techno artists with a more individual sound.....
- Lockdown, April 2020: I would [STILL] absolutely kill for this to be released as a full vinyl offering.
Right now, more than ever. - A perfect release from beginning to end bar is set high here just like Yagya debut. My 1st intro to this style/genre of electronica left a lasting impression. Neurons where triggered synapses fired and ears particularly curious to what the hell this was sparce but still nonetheless moving and captivating music/soundscapes. The contents of which the mass public does and will not accept as pure art! A staple in my music listening environment.
- Edited 6 years agoOver a decade since the CD. Still and forever timeless. Anytime I feel uninspired or the need to hear something flooringly good... this is restores me
- If humanity were to send a time capsule out into space to one day demonstrate to alien life what the words "dub techno" meant, this would be the cd that went along for the ride. With winter approaching, I put this back on rotation in my car and it still sounds just as great as the day I purchased it. Arguably some of the best tunes to zone out to on a road trip. This music is more of a place than it is a sound. Serene.
- Put this one on the other day and to my ears this is still one the most important albums in this genre to emerge over the past 10 years. It's the missing link from the post Basic Channel era of electronic music, often drenched in static, field recordings and atmosphere but all absorbed with one key element; emotional depth. This is a trip worth taking again and again and quite honestly one of my personal favorite albums of all time.
