Reviews
- Edited 2 years agoFive years after my first review at Discogs, I now have a physical copy of this gem. I didn't even know how to write in English well at that time, but Candi Staton's "Hallelujah Anyway" was already a special song for me. In 2012 I was a recent convert to Christianity.
I'm still not tired of listening to this song, whether it's the original version or a remix.
Larse's remix is still my favorite. I still haven't heard a more spiritual remix than this. Larse took the original song to levels that I don't think even Candi Staton herself imagined.
But now, with this 12″, Moplen's remix is my second favorite, even though it needs some mastering EQ. Here's why Moplen's remix is so good:
1. It's a great Nu-Disco song! It makes you dance a lot!
2. This remix retains several elements of the original song, from Candi Staton's album "Proverbs 31 Woman" (2002). Moplen mainly kept the Korg M1-style synth, which plays a melody very similar to that played in a House Music classic, the MK's mix of Nightcrawlers' "Push The Feeling On".
Dr Packer's Remix is a good remix, but I think the Frankie Knuckles + Eric Kupper remix is a better remix. That "Director's Cut" Soulful House sound is unique.
Thanks jakub.m5g for letting us know that this EP was avaliable to purchase in Defected Official Store. Although the vinyl arrived slightly warped, it was cheaper than here at Discogs and arrived in Brazil incredibly fast!
