I am beginning to think that the consistent level of reported dust, random detritus and what appears to be actual hand prints overlaying what seems to be a quite good pressing must be conceptual in nature …?

Having carefully extracted the vinyl from the paper sleeves and blown the debris off and then cleaned the vinyl it performed perfectly. Pleased. Variant 3 purchased.

Kind of iffy on this pressing, the general sound quality and mixing is good, but there's a lot of manufacturing errors (scuffs, fingerprints) all over the LPs. On top of that, there's quite a bit of pops, clicks, crackles, etc. throughout the music. It's cool to have, though.

Pretty flawed pressing, but it's not inherently awful, just wish the treatment was better.

With a lot of scary reviews I was pretty worried when ordering a copy from amazon. Once I got my copy yeah it was really dusty/paper residue-y from the sleeves and had mysterious amount of fingerprints. Which after 120+ records I’ve never seen actual fingerprints on a mint sealed record but it was no biggie, I noticed no issue in sound on all sides. after a good clean it actually played perfectly! As someone else said it’s definitely not the quietist record in my collection, but it doesn’t skip, and doesn’t have any huge issues that would get me to consider a refund. Either I just got lucky or people are overreacting, either way this is a great album and should be in everyone’s collection :)

I was very confused by the amount of dust, fingerprints/smudges that I found on this record. Not only is there surface noise and static issues on some parts of Storm, but the skip on Sleep is the most notable. The overall sound quality of this pressing sounded decent to my ears, though, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed by the shape in which the vinyl was in even newly purchased. Unsure why the pressing plant treated such a masterful album with such little care.

It's such a waste of enthusiasm to experience the bad quality of this pressing. I could figure out in the beginning what was wrong with the sound output. Grooves are generally full of artefacts that come in popping and crackling especially on side A........

Mine was very dirty. Fingerprints and dust, and weird brown spots. These spots did not come off when washing. The result is quite a lot of background noise, click and pops. I also think the sound is quite muffled, rather than open. Disappointing

When I opened this from sealed there were a lot of fingerprints and white dust residue from the pressing plant. But after a good clean and playing through it sound fantastic. An odd crackle or two but it adds to the experience of this album in my opinion. Highly recommended

awesome pressing. sounds amazing although some movements like Cancer Towers or Terrible Canyons Of Static have surface noise its drowned out usually and the fidelity sounds amazing on places like World Police And Friendly Fire or Monheim. The packaging is ok besides the cardboard sleeves, but the pressing sounds great at least on my copy. (Static best track btw)

This pressing is a mixed bag for me. There's surface noise throughout on Storm, although it's not the end of the world to me. Static was better in the sense that the loud parts had little to no surface noise but near the beginning I heard a pop. For Sleep the quiet parts had surface noise but the loud parts either had none or were drowned out. Monheim and Broken Windows/Locks of Love sounded seriously incredible. Meanwhile Antennas to Heaven has been perfect, I haven't heard an iota of surface noise on my copy.

I want to give this pressing a second spin at some point in the near future because I remember with Flood my first spin wasn't super great but the 2nd time it was a great (albeit flawed) pressing. Will update and rate this release then but for now I'd probably recommend sticking with any digital releases / the CD over this vinyl pressing (again, will update if I keep this opinion after a 2nd spin). The packaging is absolutely beautiful though, it's a super nice gatefold, the sleeves while being cardboard have some seriously incredible artwork on them, and it's just a good feeling package all around. While I may not entirely recommend this pressing for the sound quality (again, for now. I'm willing to bet it'll be better on a 2nd spin) I 100% recommend it if you want to own this masterpiece album in some form physically because of the incredible packaging.
