- Further info for the Shazam purists. After many years of searching, I scored a second press, only to discover the first press sounds completely different—better in all ways, apart from the dreaded stick on DMMBB. I've no idea why this would be, but possibly in making a new plate, they did things slightly differently. Maybe the second go used a copy of the masters: it certainly sounds like that. There's less dynamism, less punch. The 2nd press sounds grittier, with less clarity, and exactly like the Fly Doubleback pressing (which clearly uses the same plates). So, in summary, you're never going to get the ultimate copy—you either have a slightly inferior 2nd press without the stick, or a better sounding one with a stick. Damn! Personally, I've kept the first press and the Fly Doubleback version. The recent MOV remaster is fine, but you're missing out big time if that's the only one you have. With The Move, the OGs are the way to go, 100%.
- Another thing to look out for with the original 1st press is the run out groove area on side 2 is wider than it is on the 2nd pressing. Not sure why they would have done that. Also, the Fly Doubleback pressing looks identical to the 2nd press, and shares the same matrix—obviously used the same plates. It also sounds very similar to the 2nd press.
- The UK 2LP reissue is mastered from the first masters for The Move (both sides) and for this first master for Side 1, the problematic YCARX 64-1U is replaced by the YCARX 64-2U. At 15 pounds for a near mint copy (bought this week), it's a pretty good way to get these two albums...
- I have 2 copies of Shazam and they both stick on don’t make my baby blue in exactly the same place , there both regal zonophone pressings
- Another confirmation that side two with the matrix number YCARX 64-1U jumps on Don't Make My Baby Blue. Sounds pretty awesome otherwise.
- Hello mospalad... I can't believe it! I got this album back in the early 70's. This Regal Zonophone pressing. (My father was a garbageman and found it in the trash) I fell in love with it. Big time. BUT... it skipped on "Don't make my baby blue" Wow! Thank you so much for telling me because I thought it was either myself or a previous owner did something to it. Mystery solved. Thanks!
- I have probably the 1st pressing (YCARX 64-1U on side 2) and the 2nd track (Don't Make My Baby Blue) really does jump and stick several times. I thought it was damaged by the previous owner, but it seems to be a pressing fault. "Double" matrix numbers: Side 1 - YCARX 63-2U and YCARX-64-2U crossed; Side 2 - YCARX 64-1U and YCARX-63-1U crossed.
- I have the second cut and pressing of the Shazam album on Regal Zonophone. Side two has the matrix number YCARX64-2U and does NOT have the pressing fault. The first cut of side two has the matrix number YCARX64-1U and does jump and stick.
