Reviews
- Knotted up tight and letting loose, popping the tires of the truck and letting the air hiss out, tapping into the old tank of that truck called Mississippi blues and using that fuel to spit fresh fire, siphoning it up and spitting it out, lighting that junk on fire, his Mississippi and Memphis roots showing. Most blues from the last 50 years don't do much for me, too much focus on showing off the chops and not focusing on the songs, or working too hard to sound authentic to the traditions and not to one's own innards, too much sounding like a visit to a museum, but Cedric is obviously coughing it up from his gut and spitting it out with soul. It's hard not to compare him with his grandpa, but maybe that's the wrong way to come at this, this keeps the tension pulled in tight, and lets loose like a coyote howl. -- winch (green noise records)
- Edited 4 years agoNot the best pressing. The audio quality is good, but there are several pops and clicks throughout on both sides. Bought new from the artist’s online store.
- This album is chocker full of groovin tunes, with an insistent graunch in the guitar and voice gears. I love it and hope there's a new one on the horizon very soon (on vinyl).
- I know most people will never get this album but this man is the perfect dicotomy of new country blues style and the voice and style of his grandfather RL burnside. This album is beginning to end fun and entertainment. Super underrated and this signed edition is so cool. How many times in your life can you get an album signed by a living bluesman in your lifetime!
