Reviews
- Deep house legend Larry Heard examines his own GENESIS, setting off in a bass-driven cosmic drift for the opening title track before the deep house comes to the fore with the spare but soulful "Missing You." "Love Theme 2001" takes a more downtempo path, before "Lunar Gases" edges into some thoughtful, blippy electro. A sense of interstellar mystery pervades "Interlaced Expressions" that lingers into the longer "Kaleidoscopic Events." "Serene" leaves the atmosphere for a more grounded piece of gentle downtempo, while "Fantasy" adds a fun bounce in its step. "Rain" returns to the more spacious feel, and "Comfort" brings a nighttime mellow to bear. "Ominous Sky" drifts back out into a dark atmosphere, but it's been quite a trip nonetheless.
- Edited 13 years agoEchoing the other users comments this might be the most overlooked full length Larry has done. Genesis starts off with an electro track of mystery bringing a great anticipation for what is to follow. Which Missing You gladly lives up to. This sound would lead Larry into the millennium and the following releases but with more of Larry singing on them. Then Luve Theme brings it back down a level showing one of the best pacings of a Larry Heard record with a nice chill out track. Alien also has a good flow but more on sci-fi. Lunar Gases brings it back into electro showing this might be the most varied style album which also later on coes techno and ambient. Interlaced Expressions is my favorite on the cd. This track moves so well through its chords and changes with it's ying and yang percussion. One of Larrys top solo albums
