- Just picked this up, it rips!! I haven't heard it on CD or other pressings, but I don't feel this pressing lacks in any way. It's definitely quiet and needs to be cranked but once it is, everything is there that needs to be. I've heard other albums that have been compressed into a single disc and you could hear the compression and it was deflating and disappointing. But this isn't like that, it's like it's been mastered quiet so that the quality can actually be retained. So would definitely say you can't go wrong with this pressing :)
- Solid, solid, solid. Sounds far better than anyone else is suggesting down in the comments. Bass is deep and controlled, and mid/highs are balanced af. No probs at all with this single LP (rather than 2LP edition). Buy with confidence.
- Nice budget option if you want this record on vinyl. Warped, but, again, probably not an issue with this edition, and the seller's fault (bought it from a shop). It's quiet, but louder than you would expect from an almost 55 minute album on a single LP.
- Paul's Boutique on one record is a bad idea, the reason why you see so many 2LP versions of this album is because they have more bass. Bass on vinyl makes the sound waves larger which results in tracks taking up more space on the record. Paul's Boutique has many tracks with lots of bass on them, especially "Shake Your Rump". On the LP versions of Paul's Boutique there is less bass and less background noise which makes the record have a compressed sound. So I am just warning you, if you want the better sound, buy the 2LP version of this album. The LP version may be more convenient, but nobody buys records for convenience.
- This is a pretty clean sounding pressing. But it is mastered at really low volume. You really need to push your stereo system to get into it. But this is ok as there's abolutely no surface noise.
- Beastie Boys sophomore album, released three years after License to Ill. With the pressure of their commercial breakthrough wit LTI, the Beastie Boys worked on this album for two years in collaboration with the Dust Brothers. Their inventive use of sampling and layering samples in combination with the energy of the Beastie Boys is the recipe for a killer album.
