Reviews
Show All 11 Reviews- Edited 5 months agoMy god A1 disco devil, the reason i bought this is unplayable, my vinyl is mint but the recording is prob the worst iv ever heard.
The EQ on this track sounds harsh as hell. If you love this track, beware. Forget about Dj'ing it. It sounds like a bricking gone horribly wrong. - These Studio 16 Scratch disco comps are excellent...great sound quality, great price. Thanks, Colin, bringing Scratch Disco excellence to all, as it should be.
Likkle more. - Love the selections. Love the artwork. However the vinyl sounds really noisy to me. I thought something was wrong with my needle at first until I swapped it out. Maybe my ears have been ruined by listening to all the Blue Note re-issues coming out lately. if you are in it for the music at a reasonable price this should satisfy you. If you are looking for a superior audio experience you will be disappointed. I will say that Volume 2 sounds a hundred times better.
- LOL.. ohh the pain and heartache I went through tryyyyying to get 'Disco Devil 12" to sound as good as it should.. well.. let's just say I still have dreams about it. Fact is, the pressing was horrible (all copies are) and I did what I could. Rest assured no corners were cut. It is what it is.. don't bother trying to find a better recording of it - there literally isn't one. Perry himself burned the master tapes!
Scratch wasn't the best technician... he had a different, some would argue more valid, kind of magic and that's why we're all here after all, right?
I'm just a fanboy after all is said and done and I do this for love waaay more than for money (money? haha) and I have put my best efforts into the whole series. I'm very proud of it. I don't say that often. CY - Have to agree with all the previous comments left on this release, the sound quality is great!
Okay you have to turn it up a bit compared to a regular 12" release, but when you see the prices that a lot of the original releases are going for, then it's a bit of a no brainer really.
Gonna cane these badboys............... - I agree that track a1 sounds worse than the others. Perhaps the original sounds this way too? Or does anyone know of a better sounding version? Anyway, I recommend vol 1 and vol 2. Absolutely mindblowing music.
- Oh man, thats so glorious! I am sweating of this toughness.A1 is surely the reasonn but A2 is surly the winner!
- Edited 4 years agoJust ultra cleaned and then recorded Disco Devil original. Supercartridge etc. Soooo good. Gonna buy this cd and compare. I'll let you all know, upsettrheadz.
- This Compilation sounds great , track A1 sounds a little less good than other tracks. On track B2 we have an uncreditted Dillinger on the version.
Nice to have those tracks on one record, money saved ! Grab it Perry fans ! - Thanks to Colin Young for the notes and details for this record, I have the " D.I.P Presents The Upsetter" and your work on those tracks is great.
I'm gonna look for this Disco Devil and post a review about it soon.
Cheers !
