The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils,
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus;
Let no such man be trusted.
Mark the music!
(Shakespeare)

- Edited 3 months agoThis is a prime example where the tape or vinyl is another world compared with the cd. (I've listened to both German first copies).Warm and evolving. Digital versions make them sound like cold, tick boxing Germans ha ha. As to the songs, yes tracks one and five are too long and meandering but what the funk, the rest of it is way ahead and still sounds fresh 50 years later. Only Can album you can always come back to.
- Another masterpiece from Can. Some argue this is somehow less relevant than Tago Mago.
That's a real pity that "I'm so green" and "Spoon" have been heavily edited, probably to fit the album on a single LP (you can also notice how the sound quality of those 2 tracks is inferior, due to the fact that they have been dubbed for editing pourpose).
I can't tell if "i'm so green" has been edited as well. Would be great if the album would be finally presented in all its complete/unedited glory. At that point i'm pretty sure it will be considered in the same league as their (other) masterpiece Tago Mago. - I have UAS-29414 on both labels, but side B’s run out has UAS-2914 etched with the same NB signature. It’s a clear vinyl with a couple of what look like accidental small spritzes of black near the label spraying outward. I can’t find this copy on here so unless I’m missing something I’ll have to add an entry. Lemme know! Phenomenal pressing by the way, no surface noise and incredible dynamic range.
- Anybody else seen/have a version of this album on Blue Marbled vinyl? The CAT# is USA-29414 for mine but it doesn't seem to match up with any of these pressings.
- The Vocal of "Vitamin C" was used for the soundtrack of The Get Down precisely for the track "Raury & Jaden Smith Losing Your Mind"
- Hey Guys I have an identical copy as this here, but the
Matrix / Runout (Runout Side A): 29414 A2/C3A Made in Germany (A2 instead of A1)!!
