- Edited 2 years agoI disagree that Shamrock Diaries is a poor album. It's a more mature Rea with Steel River, Josephine and Shamrock Diaries being stand out tracks. Josephine is a beautiful song with the original LP version being changed a few times over the years with the 1985 single version, a more Chic-style disco remix, and the 1987 "extended French re-record", an extended remix created for a European non-album single release, being the longest version. The core band from late 1984 til 1990 was Max Middleton and Kevin Leach Keyboards, Eoghan O'Neill bass, Robert Awhai guitar, Martin Ditcham drums, and by what a band that could play anything. Chris Rea was never about dance music but he did dabble in the Mowtown sound for a number of tracks and the excellent Loving You Again is one such track.
- oh just bought this for #Josephine#.
such a poor album containing such a masterpiece of a song. maybe one of the best of the 80's. atmospheric, melodic, uplifting, this is a must for balearic dj's. pure bliss which needs an extended mix.
