Knef* – Knef

When this album came out, it was no success because it was ventured like a concept album. For me this is the best one. But time reveal as you can see the wants! Spot on the soulside feeling which can be recognized here.

A lovely record with some stunning arrangements and more importantly, some good songs.
This succeeds where some other female psych/pop/funk/orchestral records fail, for instance the Nancy Priddy LP is pretty over rated, the songs are a bit lacking and too twee for my liking.
Here however there is a weight to the songs and delivery which is far more mature and less bubblegum.
A song like 'Insel Meiner Angst' is full of sweeping, autumnal string passages and you can feel the sadness seeping through the music. Moving stuff.
How can you go wrong with a cover like that as well.
