Reviews
- Any project that explores the limits (or indeed the lack thereof) of a single instrument immediately has my attention, and Bendik Giske’s saxophone-only Surrender is a particularly mesmeric project. Strategically placed microphones pick up all the ambient noises of Giske’s saxophone performances, so that his embouchure and the clatter of the keys become percussive instruments, and shrewd production mixes the wealth of sounds together into a beautiful endless ambience.
