I came late to the non-hip hop downtempo genre. This just isn't music you normally hear played in the states. At the very least one must seek it out. With that said, I have been playing a very expensive game of vinyl catch-up.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to music - as a kid I used to get toy record players, and I love almost any type of music that makes me feel something. With that said, I picked-up the original version of "Shulme" first and it was love at first listen. I love a song that allows me to close my eyes and feel I've been transported somewhere. To be honest, it took a little while for the Lexx Remix to grow on me, but I now like it as much as the original. Each has it's own time and place. His mix adds a rhythm track and a synth line and just the hint of a whisper (that gives it an almost haunting effect).

Sorry for the jumbledness of this post, but as I look through the Claremont 56 catalogue, I am surprised by the lack of comments. Personally, I have fallen in love with many of the releases and just wanted to comment that this is music for the soul - stoned, drunk or sober, that seems to be crafted for not only originality and longevity, but to stir something within the listener - open your mind and give it a chance. At least that's my two cents worth. Either way, definitely check out some of the catalogue. If you get it, you're going to love it, and if it's not your thing, so be it, we all have our likes and dislikes, that's what keeps life so interesting.
