This is a masterpiece CD but buyers should beware of the potential, notorious disc-rot appearing on CDs from this edition (especially the first one which features a black print with a clear background on gold). Sometime in the early nineties PDO pressed a whole series of CDs which suffered due to wrong CD varnish layer or something. Among these, Coil's 'The Angelic Conversation' also suffered this fatal destiny. The side effects of disc-rot manifest during play - the outside edges of the CD usually have a slight peel-off which slowly progresses towards the centre of the disc and affects/destroys data stored on the disc so the sound reproduction becomes lost and cannot be restored.
As for the contents of the disc, it is ungrateful to describe this album - the title says it all, it is truly angelic in conversation - a deeply haunting soundscape accompanied by the magnificent Damme Judi Dench. In terms of 'heaven' and 'hell', here Coil present both worlds with such beauty and tension that make you feel pleasantly possessed.
