After almost crashing twice while listening to this in my car, I have realized that Oswald and Ernestus have created a work that is almost TOO engaging. While I was driving I kept feeling the music's hypnotic 4/4 pull, and before I knew it my tires were screeching as I braked frantically to not hit the car in front of me. I find this work even more interesting (and dangerous!) than the original BCD - it is more accessible, more aggressive, and more danceable. With BCD and BCD2, Basic Channel have cemented their place as the kings and fathers of dub techno - always imitated, never equaled.

Amazing extended versions of the legendary Basic Channel catalog, some would say 18 minutes is to long for one song but i feel in "inversion" it goes by almost to fast, i wish i could hear this for the entire length of a CD. The one beautiful aspect of Basic Channel is they managed to make an art form out of hypnosis, time isn't a factor with their music. I'll probably be struck down by lightning for saying this, but one observation after revisiting many of the songs on this CD, some of them are starting to sound a little bit dated to me. Maybe growing up on these releases has brought on this feeling but with that being said, many of them are still timeless. Songs like "inversion" & "octagon" on this album certainly leave you speechless when they are done and beg for you to play them again and again. I would love to say this sound advanced a lot since these songs were released but it really hasn't as matter of fact, the sound was truly perfected here. I would recommend buying three copies of every release Basic Channel & company have manufactured, they are just that good!
