My black copy sounds fine all the way through on both sides. Maybe a little loud on the surface noise but all in all good.

Just received my copy -- my ears aren't young, but I don't quite understand why someone would take issue with the sound quality of this re-issue to the point of saying 'avoid at all costs...' - perhaps the 2016/2017 copies aren't pressed the same (haven't heard them, can't speak to it) but the 2019 re-issue sounds really good to me.

Also I read a comment that says these 're-release companies' are using the same name as the original record labels which I interpret as an implication that they are somehow impostors or not the genuine article... last time I checked, Best Record Italy (the company releasing these re-issues) is managed by Claudio Casalini and I see his name on many Best Record and S.P.Q.R. original Italo-Disco 12-inch singles I own from the early 80s... he owned the record shops in Rome back in the day... Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure his name is on the back of High Resolution, 'Sweepin' Off' from S.P.Q.R.

On the whole vinyl rip vs. master tapes thing -- sometimes those tapes are gone or in such poor condition that making a release from them isn't possible any longer. That's often why the originals in good shape command a high price, and regardless of re-issues, always should.

I would 'avoid at all costs' if you can swallow the $200+ entry fee for the original... otherwise this isn't a bad way to go.
