Musically, this album is stunning! Anchored largely by Booker T. & the MGs—Stax's house band—these Beatles classics come off as so fresh and soulful. A definite must own for Beatles fans and anyone who appreciates classic Stax. The vinyl was a bit dirty and needed a good cleaning (paper sleeves); my Side D label also has large bubbles and isn't properly set, but everything sounds great after a good wet cleaning.
Not sure why this release isn't long gone and super expensive right now at 2,500 limited units, so get one while you can!
My copy has embossed lettering on the front cover. and this slight variation etched Matrix / Runout (Side A, Etched): CR-00173 A A3 ⋊·MS Matrix / Runout (Side B, Etched): CR-00173 B B3 ⋊·MS Matrix / Runout (Side C, Etched): CR-00173 C C5 ⋊·MS Matrix / Runout (Side D, Etched): CR-00173 D D4 ⋊·MS
I have had the exact opposite experience from the previous reviewer. Mine is flat, centered perfectly, beautifully mastered and a joy to listen to. The only downside is the records came in crappy paper sleeves and were filthy looking. Once I cleaned them up they sounded and played great.
