The liner notes claim that Disc one (Black) was recorded in Amsterdam, New York City, Trondheim, Prague, Brussels and Atlanta in 1997 but this is not true. It's 100% sure that the second part of the cd (Hypogirl, I Crawled, I Am The Sun and Blood Promise) come from the show at the Paradiso, Amsterdam, March 13, 1997 (as recorded by VPRO). "The Man With the Silver Tongue" was also perfomed in Amsterdam but was omitted from the cd (the original recording of the Amsterdam show is available at www.swans.pair.com). During the 1997 tour another song "My Birth" was played quite often but was also omitted from the cd (a fast version in the US leg and a slow version in Europe).
ps .The first 4 songs don't come for sure from Trondheim and Brussels. I compared the wave form with the SDB recordings of these shows, also available www.swans.pair.com). I don't have NYC, Atlanta and Prague indeed. But I think the other 4 songs come from a US Tour date since they were playing "Blood on yr hands" without drums only in the US.
The liner notes claim that disc two (white) was recorded in Norway on the band's 1995 tour, but this performance is actually the concert at Paradiso, Amsterdam, August 29, 1995. he songs "In", "Alcohol the Seed", and "Animus", that had been played during the tour and also for the Amsterdam concert, did not appear on Swans Are Dead (the concert has been recorded by the radio station VPRO (According to the liner notes "Recorded By Berry Kramer III* (tracks: 1-1 to 1-8) --> sound engineer at VPRO..). The original SDB recording of the Amsterdam show is available at www.swans.pair.com. Animus is unfortunately cut on that recording)
