Reviews
- In my humble opinion, this is the earliest pressing with Basing address. The other uk pressing does not have the address on the cover but has the subsequent address in the inner sleeve (stpeter’s square)
- Howdy, folks, I've got a copy of this record that also does not seem to have a matching listing. My copy has the pink ring label, as well as the palm island logo, with 1972 printed. Whereas ILPS 9184 is on the spine, the CAT number is hyphenated on the label (ILPS-9184). The gatefold cover has both the green lyrics on the inner left side and the negative portrait of Nick Drake on the inner right. Beneath the "i" logo at the bottom center of the cover's back are the following words: "island records ltd" [over] "basing street london w11". In the lower right corner of the cover's back is "Printed and made by Tinsley Robor Group Ltd." The point of confusion for me comes with the matrix numbers, which do not appear to match those on this listing, nor those of the apparent 1972 repress listing (https://www.discogs.com/release/6482587-Nick-Drake-Pink-Moon):
Matrix / Runout (A Side (stamped)): ILPS 9184 A-1U R 1
Matrix / Runout (B Side (stamped)): ILPS 9184 B-1U CD 2 1
Everything is stamped. The matrix numbers suggest it may be the early 1972 repress given the additional numbers and letters after "1U," but the sleeve, in particular, suggests it's the original. If it helps, the vinyl itself is a little heavier, though it's lighter than newer 180 gram pressings. If anyone has more clarity about this matter, your help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. I do not have the original insert, so if there's one for sale, please don't hesitate to reach out! - Could someone help me determine if my copy is an original UK or a counterfeit? The matrixes are stamped and contain the 1U, but the back of the gatefold contains the Robor credit and the jacket itself seems to be a bit shorter than most of my other records when stored vertically, even if only by a centimeter or so. I have no clue if this is normal for UK records of that era or not and I haven't read anything about this being a sign of a counterfeit. I just thought it was strange and perhaps worth mentioning. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
- Can anyone guide my to the CD release that is the CD Sized Album Replica, Gatefold(like looks like the Vinyl but smaller)?? I feel like I've gone through all of them and can't find it. Do I need to add it?
- Was this ever printed by EJ day - Im led to believe very early copies of the 1st pressing were housed in EJ Day printed covers and NOT Tinsley Robor can anyone confirm this? many thanks in advance
