Tough to beat this. It's soulful and raw, just like blues is supposed to be. The tracks on this can be found elsewhere but this is the complete Lomax session, and his first recordings, except maybe a couple from church group. Fred McDowell belongs in an elite group of country blues icons, like Skip James and John Hurt. Any roots blues aficionado will enjoy this immensely.
