- What a beautifully performed, recorded, packaged, mastered and pressed record. It may be the best Tone Poet yet and that's saying something!
- Absolutely amazing record musically, recording and mastering-wise too! The pressing is flawless as well, can’t get much better than this.
- This is absolutely incredible. It’s like they are in the room with you. Everything about this is perfect.

Have this on pre-order now. - Edited 2 years agoThe sax and the trumpet sound out of this world great. The drums are quite good. The bass is typical for BN - it has much less presence and sometimes gets lost in the mix. Unfortunately the piano sounds even worse than usual on BN records - it's like Barry Harris was in the kitchen playing an instrument covered with a blanket (plus there are instances of pitch instability here and there). Still, when you put it on and Dexter and Freddie start blowing, your heart stops for a second. They're so real in their presence you almost want to great them with a nod.
- Real good album indeed. The trumpet sounds so coppery. The gatefold jacket doesn't have a picture of Freddie Hubbard though. And of course : 5 stars.
- This is potentially the best sounding album I own. I have a number of Tone Poets, all of them excellent listens, but this one goes above and beyond.
- Do I really need ten words when I only need one to describe this stunning release displaying the best qualities in jazz musicianship, recording, mastering, pressing and packaging? *Awesome* There, I did it.
- Edited 2 years agoThis is like having Dexter Gordon in your home, Wow this is as good as it gets from vinyl sonically and packaging. I love the Tone poet series they're amazing for the price and I wish we could have at least the top 100 jazz records at this level for $35 each (not sold out as well). I was even more fortunate by buying this on Amazon for $17 used because the jacket had a small tear on the binding but the vinyl was untouched just like new. I have a few other Tone poets and they are all worth the full price but I got them when Blue Note had a 25% sale with free shipping they were a steal at that price. The only thing I could criticize this record for is I wish they included one more ballad as I'm A Fool To Want You and Jodi just wants you asking for more it is unbelievably cool and noir.
