Reviews
- Edited 8 years agoAlison has a beautiful voice. It is on this album her voice rests most beautifully.
It's a very strange - alien - album, beguiling with its beauty; under its surface many other creatures lurk. When you listen to the lyrics and strange noises, you notice it's more experimental than it first seems with its seamless beauty.
The whistling on Lovely Head is an example of the album's brilliance; it is timeless, the stuff of classics. (So good it could be exploited for a major commercial - luckily we can forget the product they were selling and the sound remains.) "Fascist baby" with a candy sweetener; this is an album to listen to and dream along with.
[Regarding the white vinyl pressing; STUMM188X. Barcode: 5-414939-924460. Not the RSD pressing which some have complained about. It's rarely something with which I notice a difference, but the sound quality is astounding. Of course you have to turn the volume up from the CD setting. Volume up, the vinyl sounds better than the CD - gut reaction. It genuinely made me wonder . . . I am not a techno head, why can't they always get it right like this?] - Edited 9 years agoEurope here, got this from my local record store, delay after delay but finally it's here and it is....Awesome.
I was kinda worried because the US-RSD Pressing was reported to have major quality issues.
This one sounds very nice and clean throughout UNTIL the last track "Horse Tears",which has a slight pop/crackle at the beginning of the track for about a minute. Little annoying, sure, but I heard way worse things (e.g. 2nd Hand 70's vinyl) so I can take it, and you should too, cause it's Felt Mountain on vinyl!
