Reviews
- A few years ago, at my local shop I found this, a nice copy, and it was "unknown", I remember being convinced it was worth the $3.60 from seeing John Von Ohlen as the drummer on the credits. (as a native son of Ohio, I am also a sucker for promising private press or micro press Ohio vinyl...)
I remember needle-dropping it with approval.
Finally, I have had a chance to listen to it front to back, and I must say this is one incredibly unique LP, from the gorgeous renaissance fused downtempo pieces, to the electric harpsichord bossa style cuts, to the heavy Jazz-Funk tracks....
This is a wonderful LP, that is sequenced so well in terms of moods, and styles, that it's front to back enriched listening, with some mind-melting Jazz-Funk, that if you feel that groove, you might just move the needle to the beginning again on those cuts...
There's really nothing that comes to mind, as a close analogue in terms of sound, I think the idea, and the execution makes it almost one of a kind, and I never thought a recorder could get down like Herbie's Headhunters, but this is the proof I was wrong, and this is so so right!
