Reviews
- This album should be on the TAS List; it along with the Curtis Amy Katanga, are some of the best Blue Note reissues I've heard and I currently have 55 Tone Poet and 60 Music Matters releases. A must have!
- I love Kenny Burrell's approach to jazz guitar: more of a mood than a technical showcase. His style makes this album so listenable and enjoyable, again and again. Agreed with other reviewers, this pressing is lovely.
- I don't know how anyone could give this less than 5.0. This is a flawless recording and I must say that the congas are what makes it! As a trumpet player most jazz albums without brass don't catch my fancy but I can listen to this all day!!!!
- Very nice pressing and stunning session. I'm really glad to add this one to my Tone Poet collection. It was a little hard to find for a bit.
- Très heureux de ce T.P. Qualité de l' enr. musicale et artistique sont au rendez-vous.Du plaisir à l' ėtat pure.en 2023 chasse au Tone Poet pour completer ma collection
- Good, strong record with Kenny Burrell and Candido leading the charge. Blue Note Tone Poet series is a top notch catalog. Great listening experience and (in most cases), stellar gatefold jackets that include photos from the sessions. Absolutely love the series and all LPs sound completely sensational. Thanks to Blue Note and everyone involved.
- The image on this listing is kinda misleading. The original has a very yellow shaded cover. The image here is very red, I don't know if the uploader had a very dark or saturated image. I just picked mine up and it's not as yellow as the original but it's also not close to the dark red seen here. It's more of an orange
- Super pressing, mines almost flat ..no issues and lovely and quiet ..although i do wet clean everything before a 1st play .. great workby Joe Harley , Kevin Gray and the team another knockout Tone Poet. Candido on Conga drum is a standout in his interplay apart from of course the main man ..then again we also have Paul Chambers another big star on bass and i almost forgot Kenny Clark who is mr drums here and finally to complete the group is the piano of Tommy Flannagan no slouch either....
if you're on the fence over this one get off it and buy this TP !! ... remember the TPs aren't limited so if its sold out some patience (maybe a year with covid and popularity issues) will let you get it at RRP - Wonderful Tone Poet record. Paul Chambers playing double bass - yeehouw. Kenny is an inspiration on the guitar, not to forget the percussions, drums and keyboard. A must have in your collection
