1987 was a great year for Scottish bands. Deacon Blue, Hue And Cry and Danny Wilson all had debut albums this year and, for me, Meet Danny Wilson is the best of them. It's a fantastic album from start to finish. Tremendous song writing from Gary Clark and consistent throughout. There's many gems on this album, not a bad track, but the highlight for me is the closing "I Won't Be Here When You Get Home", absolutely brilliant. It's a shame in one respect that this never got a 2LP release, as it's a long album, and the aforementioned track suffers from a bit of sibilance, to my ears anyway. This and Raintown are two of the finest albums, not just of 1987, but of all time, imo.

Lovely 80’s sophisti-pop with hues of blue-eyed soul, catchy lyrics, hooks & arrangements, glorious theatrical vocal delivery & songs filled with fine melodies. To say that this LP "rewards repeated listening" is an understatement. Still sounds fresh today.
      A seductive pleasure.
