John Bush's review over on Allmusic made me laugh...

2.5/5 On The Architect, Code explore various brands of techno in much the same way as Underworld or Leftfield.

Great album. It would have been wonderfull to hear a second album by CODE. I wanted more from them. There is an exclusive remix of "Gentle Science" included on the cd of the Future Music July 1995 Magazine. Very interesting for the fans.

One of my favourite albums ever, for those into the more romantic techno..

Atlantic is a wonderful sort of slow breakbeat/ambient techno track, up there with the best of Reload or Pentatonik, a real gem of a tune. The rest of the album is great but totally different, more a sort of ambitious techno pop lp.

cult cult cult. maybe the best new thing since Kraftwerk back then. From Kent. Future Music magazine had a great studio report and interview. scans somewhere on the internets. Lots of Roland synths, JD, SH, Juno, cheap MT32. Most timeless electronic album ever. And the saddest ever they dissolved into nowhere..

A cult album which earned Code much acclaim in the British press.
They were signed to Third Mind Records and ISDN in Germany. This album is at once dark and romantic , never tipping into industrial excess or dance frippery . At times one is reminded of Kraftwerk (for example on Gentle Science). On the extented "The Grand Architect" we enter a labrynth of exotic beauty and grandeur. What are they attempting to describe here? It is as if the whole album is a secret and the code/answer is inside this one track. It is this quality of english restraint combined with the ultra-cosmic (similar to Pink Floyd in this respect),that make this album so special. In the subsequent years it has not lost any of its beauty.
