Reviews
- Edited 6 years agoA much better sounding record than their debut first press.
Kendun has as usual done a stellar job for the most part making each beat and string, no matter how shrill, sound blissful and easy to listen to. There is good emphasizing work going on as well without making it sound processed or fake. It seems tracks were compromised for since there can be quite a lot going on at times, making instrumental separation difficult, or so I speculate. It never sounds like mess thankfully due to the good balancing behind the emphasizing. It does make me wonder about the vocals however as they are among the more recessed aspects of every track. It makes me think of an MFSL mastering, although maybe not quite with their finess. I wish there was a little more drive and kick to that vocal mid range to make the sound more coherent.
And its not that I play the record too quiet since its cut pretty loud already, making most small anomalies and surface noise on my copy all but trivial.
In the end its like it was cut with a rock and roll feel in mind while trying to also please an audiophile crowd, resulting in a strange compromise, but still sounding enjoyable and good none the less. I would be curious to hear a more focused attempt in the audiophile direction if someone would make such a realease. In the meantime Im very happy with this UK Kendun press.
