I'd compare this reissue with the BN75's. Packaging is nothing special, cleaning is necessary right off the bat because of the unbelievable amount of residue from the paper sleeve, and sourced from digital. The vinyl itself is great. 180 gram, flat, and sounds really good. I wouldn't spend over $20 on these, but if you can find it cheap, go for it.

Unfortunately unsealed the disc I see how it is frankly dirty, with remains of shavings from the press. After cleaning it well before reproducing it my fears are confirmed. Album full of clicks and pops that make a minimally pleasant listening unbearable. Total lack of quality control for this European pressing. It is useless to announce on the sticker that it is an original Impulse disc where original Impulse tapes are used if the vinyl manufacture is poor. I've seen "unofficial" copies sound much better than this. A shame

Sonny made three studio albums for Impulse and all of them are excellent. Debut was created from standards. Rollins style is unique and from each note is evident his love for tenor. Great surprise to me are Bryant and Booker like not only perfect sidemans but also they added important influence. Delicacy. VVV reissue is very good even not reached the level of Haynes mono "Afternoon". Pressing is again dusty with paper residue from inner sleeve. Necessary to clean it twice. After that is enjoy to listen, with very good separation, dynamic range and no sign of digital mastering. To that it was cut on DMM lathe deep and textured bass in solos. Even missing gatefold quite solid inner sleeve reproduction of original. Overall for 18 euro easily recommended.
