      Okay, I have a 1982 pressing [Matrix Side One: st-1-12211-219 Freedom] [Matrix Side Two:st-1-12221 z-5 TML-M]
It's an obvious mispressing, with Side 2 containing 4 tracks from a boogie funk/Electro-R&B band in the vein of Midnight Star.
Attempting to SHAZAM the songs yielded no results.
Does anyone have any info on this oddity?

I got this UK issue and I'm surprised to see that the mix is rather different than the north-american version. My own way has no synth on the brit version. The girl on Hungry like the wolf is almost absent of the brit mix. There is editing at least on HLTW, maybe other songs! Interesting!
EDIT: All this is detailed on third version on the US version here: https://www.discogs.com/release/311876-Duran-Duran-Rio

This is Duran's best album. With this album they became the myth of the 80s of musical genres such as New Romantic, New Wave, but also Pop Rock music. -
Questo è l'album piu bello dei Duran. Con questo album sono diventati il mito degli anni'80 dei generi musicali come la New Romantic, la New Wave, ma anche la musica Pop Rock.

I am not seeing a listing for the US longbox. The disc I have is made in US for Capitol and has 4-1-1 CAPITOL JAX8 on the front inner circle. The back side of the disc has CDP 746003 2 AR 4 and EMI SWINDON on the inner circle. The disc says (DIDX 239). Barcode 0 7777-46003-2.

The graphic designer Malcolm Garrett mentioned the initial copies of this LP had a seal to cut through to get to the contents, but I’ve never seen this anywhere.

One of the best albums of the 80s. Not really a diehard DD fan but what an album.
