Reviews
- Not sure what the negative feedback is about, my copy has no issues. It's expected that the recordings are a bit rough around the edges, they are first takes and demos.
- Edited 2 years agoThere are some questionable editorial decisions here. Almost the whole of side 2 has stretched tape and drop outs. Tracks b2 and b3 have some really serious problems that makes publishing them questionable in my view. B3 fades out in one channel completely at one point. Watery timing and some distortion on b4 and b5. Honestly, side 2 is a tough listen. Unfortunately, side 3 also has tape stretch timing issues. The Peel Sessions on side 4 are a bit better, but then these could hardly be called good recordings.
This is strange as the first recordings of "Replicas" are good and whilst some of the recordings are nothing special in sound quality terms, they are more than listenable and there aren't any of these tape issues. I can recommend "Replicas", but too much of this first recordings of "The Pleasure Principle" is difficult to listen to.
