- Pretty sure that the Troys Bass Mix samples the sped up version of Transworld Siren by RSW… you can hear it best in the first 30-60 seconds of the track, as well as about 4 minutes in.
- Big hardcore tune packed full of samples, use to bring the house down, with it tough synth loops, driving breaks, rumbling bassline and a great piano line. "Stinger Mix" is the mix for me.
- Early versions of this record were circulating from about April 1991. Maybe earlier, but late April 1991 is when I'd first heard it. Both versions used to take the roof off and cause mayhem on the dancefloor, that's if it was being played indoors of course! The Stinger Mix, the one with the loud klonk style, tone bass melody - especially sounded sweet blaring out of a 30-100K sound system. No posers or hip rubbing when this came on, everyone off their bums moving towards the loudest, noisiest positions.
- This Should Have Gone Straight On The Production House Label, Easily Good Enough, Stingray (Troys Bass Mix) The One For Me, Too Obscure Must Have Been The Reason Though I Reckon Given How They Said They Ran Production House At The Time, Such A Good Track Though, Ruff As...Remember It Well.
- Edited 10 years agoAgree with reviewer below. The "Stinger Mix" uses a similar bass to The House Crew. However, this bassline is much phatter and much better imho and sounds like Derrick May on some heavy rocket fuel. It also came out a few months before The House Crew record aswell. Absolute classic, not played enough or mentioned enough.
- Edited 12 years agoAgreed is a classic bass shaker, not got it? Ooooh poor you! Same bass as House Crew - Got to keep the fire burnin'.
- Edited 13 years agoi used to drop this in the midlands .... bassplace , pandemonium , eclipse etc . rocked the shit outta the system , the bass noise was great and random samples thrown in like 'hey gotta get the bass out of here' . old skool breaks , laughing samples and rave madness !
- Edited 14 years agoWhy is there no comments here? I remember hearing Stu Allen drop this at the Eclipse in May 1991 and it blew the whole party. Ruff and ready production more than made up for by anthemic piano breakdown and moody, funky b-line on the b-side. A great track with great memories!
