- Another belter from Aquarian and Deepmash.
Title track "Infrared" is the techno entry in this race, and appears to be a faster reworking of 2018's "Aegis". It chugs along, gathering steam, and then lets all that built-up energy sort of ebb away. Probably one to fade out of.
"Tunnel Vision" is one of their patented slow-building, tense tracks that dials up a suffocating atmosphere over 6 minutes before finally releasing it in an Amen explosion. Definitely the highlight, this is one hell of a tune. In fact it's almost too intense, as it makes concentration on anything else impossible, and would really only work as the climax of a DJ set.
"Leisure Techno" is the less intimidating follow-up, which has a throwback rave feel and deploys the Think break to great effect. "The Good Old Days Are Tomorrow" is a fast-paced drum 'n' bass tune, nothing menacing here at all.
All told, a worthy effort. Admittedly, this EP doesn't break any new ground, never straying far from their previous release (2018's Aegis). But why mess with a winning formula?
