This album is really great! Kanye connecting hip hop and gospel. Has creativity that is much needed in the genre. Shouts out to prison people telling them they can still be anything they want to be. Shouts out to single Moms. In general tells people to do the right thing no matter if it’s popular or not. Strong mental frames expressed. Water was amazingly artistic. I wish some songs were longer, felt cut short. Some of the choir vocal mixing I felt was a little careless. But overall, wow 4/5 stars. Calls out Christians and go will hate him because he’s hip hop background. The album is honest. Kanye is joining sphere of higher Christian art which is bigger than him, global, spanning centuries.

There was a lot of hype behind Ye leading up to the release of Jesus Is King, especially the absolute success that was KIDS SEE GHOSTS. “Drop Yandhi!” and “Where’s Yandhi?” was all you could hear from Ye’s fans. When Ye announced Jesus Is King, although surprised, I was excited nonetheless. I remember listening to it for the first time and thought it was amazing. Listening to the album more and more I realized it’s not as great as I thought it was. In no way do I think JIK is a bad album, but it is just exceptionally “okay”. While it isn’t 100% a Christain album, it’s definitely the best “Christain inspired” album out there. One detail that I do love is the amazing gospel samples, that were done extremely well. Some of the songs can be very catchy. ‘God Is’ and ‘Follow God’ are certainly highlights for me. Where this album lacks is in Ye’s lyricism. I knew Ye for his really cleverly written bars, especially going back to MBDTF days. Like ‘Closed On Sunday’ is probably one of the stupidest songs I have ever heard, it isn’t even fun ironically. I also wish there was a better line up of features, the only really big surprise feature being Kenny G on ‘Use This Gospel’. Even if Ye wanted to seriously do a full fledged Christian album I think he could do a lot better than Jesus Is King. The whole thing just kinda feels unfinished.⁣⁣

Without Closed on Sunday this album is an 8, in my opinion. With Closed on Sunday it's a VERY SOLID 7.

I think that Kanye is a snake in the grass but also that this is pretty good.

Instant classic, the people who are saying this is bad are mostly just motivated by either group think, politics or are just distraught by the spiritual nature of this release and have lost all ability to be objective and unbiased. I've been a fan since Dropout and I'm saying that this is in the top 3 of his work for me by far! "Go 'head, switch the style up" And if they hate then let 'em hate and watch the money pile up!"

Garbage. One day, it will probably be considered one of the worst rap albums of all time. You know, when some people can finally get over this "politics" argument. Just plain bad, recicled demos
