A very strange recording. The Brian Eno note on the rear and his involvement as a producer and clarinet player may explain the strangeness (and the lift from relative obscurity), but still is hard to listen to, over and over again. People that love classical music will surely be let down, since this sounds as an unrehearsed group of musicians (which they are, since it was part of the project) and Eno enthusiasts will see it as a step to his Ambient project, since they will have to play and listen to it, at the lowest possible volume. Still a bit pricey for either experience.

Believe the correct title for all releases should be: "Portsmouth Sinfonia Plays The Popular Classics", the artist being Portsmouth Sinfonia. Currently, release title is listed as: "Plays The Popular Classics", which makes no sense.
