- Edited 9 months agoCut by Barry Grint - Bazza Alchemy etched in the run out. Cat number is BLUELP001
- The new 2024 press seems to be a straight repress of this one, same barcode, 2019 copyright dates etc.
- This is a beautifully mastered album and sounds fantastic. Just wish they had put as much time into the cover as well but suppose of the two the music is the important part.
- Edited 7 months agoThis is a short review of all three of the recent reissues - I bought one of each.
All my copies arrived with creased/bent covers and 'Peace At Last' has a heavy warp to it. I'm currently trying to get a refund on them via Transistor Music but to no avail. Has anyone else purchased via them? I'm getting a Pledge Music vibe about them. No phone number, one initial response then radio silence.
Anyway! Back to the music and items... The music is incredible, flawless, we all know this, 5 stars for the music. The new mixes are maybe a bit too bright, sparkly or 'aurally excited' for my liking - but they sound good enough. The crying shame about all of this reissue campaign is how little effort has gone in to the packaging and presentation. These are incredible albums and need the respect they deserve.
Paper sleeves, no polylined.
No printed inner sleeves.
No inner sleeve credit sheet.
No liner notes.
I'm not one for over-the-top-packaging or extra tracks (or worse still, the dreaded added remixes) - but blimey, just a little TLC would have sufficed. I'll just stick to my originals and 2012 reissues.
5/5 for the music
0/5 for the packaging - My copy is a beautiful silent pressing, no noise floor at all. If hats pressing is as nice as this I may invest further!
