Reviews
- Edited 11 months agoA low key excellent Philly Soul record that many have never heard. In this one, Vince copies Domenico "Meco" Monardo and tries his hand at the disco version of another John Williams soundtrack. Sadly, Vince Montana, whether it was his own ego, the lack of the MFSB/Philly International/Salsoul branding behind the record, poor marketing, the implosion of the disco genre or what, he was still making some fantastic albums on Atlantic. But even outside of the Close Encounters of the Third Kind covers, the real gems are the original tunes on this one. V.M. IV, Warp Factor II, and Fly Me To The Moon are just classic Vince Montana tunes. You can see exactly where Yuji Ohno got his inspiration for all of those Lupin III soumdtracks. The amazing sounding strings, the vibraphone, the bongos, all coming together for a smooth disco groove that will keep you moving. If you like this one, also check out his album I Love Music.
- 11:00 O'clock at the club and the dj drops V.M. IV, had do shazam it of course. Today I find this timeless beauty !
- Someone used this record as filler for another order I purchased and that sucks for them because this record rules. It’s a great vibe to throw on.
- I have a version that has ST-A-784033-MO on the label, but the runout has PR on it... (full: "(triangle) 23144(2) STA-784033-BB TM/JR (PR)") is that a different release or just a variation of this one?
Rest of the labels and sleeves are identical. - I was bought this album in 1978 when I was eight, still have it now and love it just as much. Just a joy to hear it on a decent sound system.
