Reviews
- Edited one year agoI REALLY really hate how they did this. If Carry Stress was its own track without The Secret Song then Phlegmatics couldve been A7 and Platypus couldve been added back. Why the HELL was this done this way???? The Secret Song was supposed to be track 0 on the CD (which didnt work out due to some legal issues) and was a paralell groove on the original press. Sucks how much of a mess this album is on vinyl, this is their best work imo. Also, theres a noticable amount of silence in between each track, it kinda seams together on the CD/tape. The other MOV reissues are fine, wtf is up with this? Oh well, having this is better than not owning it on vinyl at all. Sounds fine on my end, just super annoyed with the way it was done.
- Despite so much music on each side, this release sounds pretty good. Obviously it'd be better if it was split onto 2 records, but it does the job well enough. Not super dynamic, but at least it's cheap
- Not too bad at all... but hopelessly wishing for a proper pressing/remaster. 2 x LP @ 45 rpm would be fantastic. This album deserves it!
- Overall I’m happy with this pressing, I just think it should have been a 2LP like the self titled album. The mastering is great for the most part, my only complaints are the volume is inconsistent and the tracks that are meant to flow into eachother have space in between them. But For almost an hour of music on one disc it sounds great. As for the pressing quality, my sleeve arrived kinda beaten up but that may have been shipping and not MOV’s fault. The vinyl has some warping on side A but it still plays fine and side B is perfectly flat. Also there is absolutely no surface noise, the background is dead silent. Compared to the other MOV Bungle reissues this one isn’t super loud like them, for the most part it’s on the quieter side. It’s a lot punchier and in general feels livelier and more animated than the other two, which still sound fantastic. I am a little bummed that this has platypus omitted which brings me back to the question of why wasn’t this a 2LP in the first place???? Anyways, For what it is this pressing is phenomenal. all three Mr Bungle reissues they knocked it out of the park. And to anyone wondering this pressing does have spy (the good hidden track) but noises (the bad hidden track) was omitted (thankfully) but it is worth noting that instead of being accessed by placing your stylus on a specific part of the record like the original pressing, spy is just an unlisted track that plays after carry stress in the jaw. Not as cool or exciting but still happy it was included
- Edited 3 years agoReally disappointed that they omitted my favorite track, Platypus. Hoping a complete or deluxe version gets released someday.
- I disagree with dear VincentPresley below. Yes, 30 minutes per side is a little bit overload, but sound of this press is amazing. If sound and quality of pressing is good - 30 minute per side doesn't matter I think.
Dear mister Obertu wrote "this is very low-volume pressing". Try to compare with original CD version - low volume studio release, not pressing. Difference between Mr.Bungle ST 1991 and Disco Volante 1995 on CDs appox 8db!
So in my opinion - this press of MOV is incredible. Sound much-much better than original CD.
5 stars surely. - This is a very low-volume pressing. You have to crank it up a lot. But the vinyl is dead quiet, awesome dynamic, great instrument separation. A bit too much on the bassy side for me. But totally recommended!!
