Limited edition of 500 copies on gold vinyl and black vinyl (this). Gatefold sleeve.

Includes the original 1989 album, resequenced and remastered, with selected tracks from the Deep Listening Band’s 1991 album The Ready Made Boomerang on side D. "Balloon Payment" is illustrative of the natural ~45 second reverb of the underground cistern that both albums were recorded in; it consists solely of a balloon being popped.

The SAFF cut / GZ pressing for this reissue is fatally flawed. It's so bad Important Records ordered a brand new cut / pressing within the year due to the defects and negative feedback. Apparently there was a screw up by someone in production and they sent these off to GZ instead of going with their standard GOLDEN / RTI route. Ask them directly and they'll say they don't understand why this happened. Deep Listening demands a higher quality product so props to them for acknowledging the mistakes and moving on.

If you're going to go after this album on vinyl (and you should), do yourself a favor and spend the money on the GOLDEN cut / RTI pressings:

    Black, 2nd Pressing
    Clear, 2nd Pressing
    Foggy Clear, 3rd Pressing

5 stars for music , 1 star for quality. I would understand occasional surface noise but it is constant on mine. It’s not loud but as others have said with this kind of music it’s completely distracting

The second I pulled the record from the sleeve I knew it was going to sound good, and it does sound very good

so many questions with this there ANY way to tell what pressing you have if it's SEALED? any indication on hype sticker of color of vinyl? any way to tell if it's a sealed first press / second press? any way to tell what color? help would be appreciated, seems impossible from just looking at them, but maybe hype sticker placement? i have one with it placed on right, another with sticker on left.....ugh.

After a thorough washing, I didn't have any issues with the playback on the first black vinyl pressing (very flat, btw). The mastering is excellent, and the sound reverberates and expands at any volume. A spectral, engrossing recording. Recommended.

Had the same issue as tristandahn - waited for stock and it never came through, missed out in the end. Waiting for a repress on this important record.

Just adding my voice to the chorus of folks hoping for a repress. The shop I usually buy from had it on order but never received stock and by the time I went to buy online, it was sold out everywhere. So if anyone from Important is reading this, I assure you there are enough people out there who want a copy to warrant a second pressing. Thanks!

Have to agree with those disappointed with the pressing. My copy is noisy throughout and in places it's possible to see pressing issues when the discs are held under strong light. It's impossible for the labels to inspect every copy but they must start complaining to the pressing plants when they know the quality is not good throughout the run. Vinyl has become incredibly expensive and the QC should be thorough and so reflect the premium we pay. If mastered and cut well this is then the responsibility of the pressing plants. They need to be told.

We've listened to a lot of copies of this pressing and some are nearly perfect and others are noisy with a lot of clicks and pops. If you have access to a record cleaning machine (like a VPI) you can eliminate most of the noise.
