Released early in the year 1990, an oustanding timeless compilation that still is a bluerprint for all things techno. Octave One's "I Believe" is about as good as music can get: past, present and future.
The only track not making the cut is Area 10's freestyle middle-of-the road "Love Takes Me Over" which I find a complete misfit in this company. So skip that track, and start listening from track 2 is my advice.

What can we say about Stark? A deep, exquisite Techno piece, seriously underrated; this masterpiece should get a lot more credit, first of all because it was of a kind, and also for its aesthetic and futuristic atmosphere (remember we were in 1990).

This is just such a good compilation. Takes you to another world. KGB-Stark is awesome. Very dark. Best track on this compilation followed by Techno Por Favor wich is another great techno piece. But this said, the other pieces are just so good as well. You just gotta feel this compilation.

            Stark by KGB...

This is the stand-out track of the album for me, one of my all-time favourite Detroit techno tracks. It's a stripped, dark, bubbling, acid-tinged monster with a really deep, rolling, off-kilter vibe. Droning synth-lines float up and merge with eerie snippets of vocals, while dark, gritty breakbeats drive the whole thing along, underpinned by a muscular, surging bassline that coils around all the elements like a sea-sepent. Relentless...

            True techno. A masterpiece.

(With apologies for the purple prose.)
