spinnin this to honor the 2nd anniversary
my copy sounds really good! just a lil high pitched. the bass is amazing and i don't hear much compression! (compared to the digital version at least, but the mixing is in fact compressed)
main drawback is the algorithm mixes. i don't like forced 2x12" but if they made that with the art mixes i'd take it cause the edited tracks just aren't the same (plus, perfect opportunity to use her preferred cover art). doesn't matter a lot to me tho cause i got the cd too.

The sound quality is decent, wouldn't call it impressive and it certainly isn't dynamic. Tracks are very much compressed. This album was mixed loud, as a lot of modern albums are, yet for some reason the LP itself was mastered at a low volume. At least the pressing itself doesn't have any of the issues that plague loads of modern records like excessive surface noise, non-fill, etc. The algorithm mixes are a complete shame though. So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth loses a lot of the mystical feeling of the song, My Name is Dark's edit point is ridiculously obvious and it fades out during the guitar solo (the mix made for the music video is only, what, 30 seconds longer and it's a far better edit - why didn't they just use that?) and worst of all is IDORU which is missing some of the intro causing it to start abruptly, but at least the editing halfway through isn't super obvious on that one. I hope one day this album gets a proper, actually dynamic remastering and is pressed on 2 LPs so we can have the full versions of those three songs.

I was really impressed by her Visions record, so when this one came out, I immediately purchased it and never regreted. A bit quieter than other records, but still impressive! Very dynamic, even the tinyest of the production are audible. Deffinitely among the top of my list of high quality records!

10/10 - the sound is very dynamic and gorgeous,really great mastering on this one. Shame for the art mixes not making it onto the vinyl release, as I felt they added a lot to the album, but even with that it's absolutely worth getting!
