- I love this wild music. A beautiful wall of jazz. I had a pressing of this bought in the 2000s and it sounded dead a lifeless. A friend sold me hi entire jazz collection and I found this original pressing in there. It was a little beat up but the vinyl is clean and while a touch scratchy the sound is spectacular. Full of energy and life and played loud as hell it's one hell of a trip, no drugs or alcohol required.
- Bought this on day of release London 1972 I loved it and could not understand why all my friends around at the time were all caught up with Chick Corea's "light as a feather" era music which was nice but not exactly ballsy or showing where the future of music was heading, in my humble opinion this is and was the most hated and misunderstood wall of amazing sound which on reflection I think is far more appreciated today ?. I remember Downbeat rated it the worst Jazz record ever ! I still play it often to cheer me up!
- Considering there is much commentary on this same subject below -
What is the best vinyl press of this music? It could easily sound thin, as there's a lot of music for a single disc, over 50 minutes. My original Columbia sounds very much this way. The BGO digital master for ceedee from the early 90's was - pardon the pun - Miles Ahead! Seethingly alive in comparison..... But which is the best vinyl cut?
- amazing infectious funk at the highest heights. Miles predicted lots of music to come in later decades.
- This album can be described in one word: Pure badness. OK, that's two words, such is it's power. The headspring for so much music to follow, OTC should be on any list of greatest albums ever. If Kind of Blue is a jazz album for people who don't like jazz, then just who the hell is this for, Miles, you crazy mother...? My wife just came into the room where this is playing and started throwing shapes I've never seen before.
- Strike of a genius! For me this record is the blueprint for Bitches Pangaea Agharta. A weird world music with crazy rhythms and hard noises and wonderful solos. My favourite Miles.
