OK so its not Rit's best effort but kudo's for experimenting with the then futuristic Synthaxe designed in the UK by fledgling engineers who wanted to push the guitar into a new arena. Open track check nice use of synth axe and ensemble, Earth Run nice smooth bossa tune atypical of what Rit what do years later with Dave Grusin on Harlequin(with the addition of Ivan Lins). The Sauce is a nice pseudo funky latin track where Ritenour adds distorted electric guitar to the tracks recipe...There are some solid compositions on this release having heard this in 1987 it was really an experience not having a trained ear for jazz in general but a love of electronics I really "dug" this release not loved it! The vocal tracks should have been ousted for more instrumentals. I think alot of what people think are synths where really on the synthaxe. All in all an album of its time but really underserved of vitriol from die hard fusion heads. Rit was never a straight on a trad jazz or fusion demi-god nor did he aspire to be so and perhaps thats why his career is still alive today.

This effort contains a mix of synth and heavy guitar jazz fusion that is firmly heard as stuck in the 80s. There are a few tracks "Water from the Moon" that would make its home on a new age album.

I bought this release decades simply because Rit was holding a SynthAxe that Allan Holdsworth mastered plus he had done well alongside Tommy Bolin playing on A. Mouzon's Mind Transplant unique fusion offering -- but -- this Earth Run release is nothing but limp-wristed, saccharine sweet, smoothhhh jazz with nothing impressive happening. Avoid this one. Sorry Rit.
