3 LP set; Live Westwood One radio show concert series features portions of a U2 concert recorded live by the BBC at London's Hammersmith Palais, December 6, 1982 during their very limited “Pre-War” tour. All of the classic early U2 live staples are here, as well as a couple songs from the soon-to-be-released War album just a few months later.
This was broadcast for the weekend of Sept 21, 1985. Show # SS85-C.
It's possible this concert was re-produced more than once for future broadcasting dates (with possibly different track line-up) on vinyl and CD.
Hosted by Phil Hendrie.
Westwood One's 'Superstar Concert Series' was a 90-minute, weekly national radio show that was broadcast on radio stations in the US who paid for the subscription. These shows feature portions of professionally record concerts, as well as national commercials.
Each show was pressed on 3 vinyl LPs and pressed on high-quality translucent vinyl for superior sonics (hold it to a bright light and you can see through it).
The sides are paired up as follows: Disc 1: 1/4, Disc 2: 2/5, Disc 3: 3/6
Each show comes packaged in a black lift-off LP box with the Superstar Concert Series black & white photo of a large outdoor audience and a boombox as the stage.
Included is a cue sheet that lists the contents, commercials and duration for each segment for the DJ to be able to properly cue up and end each segment during the broadcast. (see photo)
Some copies may also have come with a Westwood One "Satellite News Roundup" newsletter and satellite schedule for the week of this broadcast. (see photo)
These were available only to radio stations who subscribed to Westwood One and were not sold in stores.
Cue sheet errors:
A5 is incorrectly listed as just "I Threw A Brick".
C3 is incorrectly listed as just "Electric Company".
F4 is incorrectly listed as just "Celebration".
