Another great record from Leon, ermm.. I mean Hank Wilson. "They call me when the guy can't play on his own fucking record", as David Briggs says in A Poem Is A Naked Person. The Nashville A Team backs Hank on country classics.

Here's what occurs to me: Leon's sound around this time was incorporating more contemporary African-American influences (see Stop All That Jazz, Will O' The Wisp, the Midnight Special performance with the GAP Band, the records with Mary). He chose to "segregate" the country side under Hank Wilson and let the the funk, soul and r&b reign free as his main Leon Russell sound. I'm sure he didn't see it like those neat little boxes though. And neither should we.
