Not long after this came out, me and a buddy were in the "hippest record store in town" down here in Tampa... As usual, we avoided the glass case full of choice "indie rarities", and went straight to the dollar bins... We snagged two copies of this, unopened, $1 each... I used to DJ at the local community sponsored radio station that had all the Jandek records pretty much up to this one, so it was with a certain sense of triumph when we walked out of there with these in our sweaty little hands... Hard to describe any one of his recordings as "the best", but this one, in some ways, along with "The Rocks Crumble", are probably a good entry point for anybody interested in his analog period. Having access at the radio station to his early recordings was quite a treat, looking back I wish I had taped the complete Jandek vinyl collection, but I still have two Maxell metal cassettes of the "cream of the crop" of those albums (ALL the versions of "European Jewel") a side note, my buddy that grabbed the other copy lost his during Hurricane Irma... So there's definitely one fewer copies out there than there were a few years back...

A very good starting point for all those looking to dive into the Jandek discography, but not sure quite where to begin! Try this one, "The Living End", "One Foot In The North" as good starting points for electric era
