Reviews
- I was never a huge fan of this album until I listened to it on vinyl.
This is definitely intended for vinyl listening - can't recommend it enough. - Overall this vinyl sounds incredible as I expected it too, only downside was when I opened it up it was alarmingly dirty and had a few scuffs and one minor scratch fresh out of the shrink wrap. Nothing that affects how it plays just disappointing to see as I am pretty meticulous about my vinyls and keeping them in pristine condition. I think mine was an anomaly as other people have not reported having anything similar to what I received. I do still recommend this as I think it is essential to every collection.
- My copy has a decent amount of static throughout and has since I took it out of the shrink. Was surprised to find out it was an official pressing given how pixelated the sleeve is. Fantastic record and good sound, my copy just isn't the most clean.
- Lovely sound on mine. Quiet and full, with just the right amount of bass, mids and treble. Had this on CD for years but I much prefer this on vinyl. I’m not normally fussed about format as long as the end product sounds good, but this one feels right on record. Recommended.
Plus I’ve now got all their other albums on the way. - From the “Dummy” Wikipedia page:
“In order to create a vintage sound, Barrow said that they distressed the vinyl records they had recorded by "putting them on the studio floor and walking across them and using them like skateboard", and they also recorded the sound through a broken amplifier.”
I notice the most crackle on “Glory Box”. It’s on the digital version as well.
